Frequently Asked Questions

Do my industrial pallet racks require building permits and engineered stamped drawings?
Yes. Under updated Canadian building regulations, racking structures are classified as building components. This means detailed site layouts, structural calculations, and professionally engineered stamped drawings are mandatory to secure building permits and ensure legal compliance.
Are seismic calculations required for racking installations outside of high-earthquake zones?
Yes. Seismic rack calculations are now required for industrial storage systems Canada-wide, not just in historically high-risk areas. Our in-house engineering team calculates localized seismic force resistance based on your exact geographic coordinates, floor slab design, and total load capacity to ensure full compliance.
What certifications does your engineering process hold?
NAS holds dual R-Mark® certifications for both Roll Formed and structural steel, issued by the Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI). This is the highest engineering accreditation in the storage industry. Additionally, our system designs strictly adhere to CSA Standard A344 and all national safety regulations.
Can your engineers certify or provide As-Built drawings for our existing racking systems?
Yes. If you have an existing system that lacks documentation, our engineers can conduct on-site physical audits, evaluate load capacities, and generate verified As-Built layout drawings. These drawings are indispensable for Ministry of Labour compliance, safety sign-offs, and facility re-zoning.
